Christmas Sock Monkey Pajama Pants!

Working on sewing the hem? Or hemming the pants? I rolled up the ankles an inch and they look lovely.

This Christmas I’m working on several knit gifts, but also a few sewing gifts! Yep, I thought my sewing days were done after the attempted patchwork purse of ‘05, but here I am, sewing again!

It’s really refreshing to work on something apart from knitting and spinning, (Because you know, I already put hours and hours into those projects) and have a project that I can work on, and effectively finish in little to no time at all!  Let alone all the new techniques and sewing jargon I’m learning!  For example, the metal piece that holds the material down and in place while the needle moves up and down is called “the foot.”  I’ve also heard mentioned the “feed dogs” which are, you know, important and stuff.

Just a peek of the reversible sock monkey material...

What I’m most intrigued with is the stitch pattern on my mom’s machine which allows me to sew either swans or flowers.  Yeah.  Swans.  Needless to say I’m very excited to have yet another creative outlet and will be sure to keep on posting my projects and other fun tid-bits I learn along the way!

Until then, happy holiday’s- and happy sewing!

Christmas Brew!

Sneak peek of someone's Christmas sweater...

Here’s just a little peek of one of my completed Christmas projects! (Or, my ONE completed Christmas project.)  I knit this out of Encore that I got at my LYS, Lambikin’s Hideaway!  Happy Holiday’s!

Glitten Issues!

Partially finished Glitten!

Partially finished Glitten!

Hello all!

Well the weather is starting to get down right chilly here in Cincinnati!  I knew it was time to pull out winter clothes when I could see my breath in the morning and had to start scraping frost off my car windows.

As if the cold weather weren’t enough, we’re all reminded of the impending holiday’s with the usual commercials, radio ads, and endless email updates from stores (that for the next 5 hours only you can get 50% off any of their holiday socks!)  Needless to say, the holiday’s can be a time of terror and angst for those unprepared for it.

Glittens in progress!

I'll finish those 200+ pages of reading right after I finish this row!

I’m really interested in hearing what everyone else is working on over the holiday season.  Are you crafters who take the holiday’s off and just buy something special for a friend, or do you pull off knitting Fair Isle sweaters for all 30 family members?  Whatever your knitting load may be, I hope you all get to enjoy spending the holiday with loved ones, (or with some much loved yarn!)

Happy Knitting!
